Frequently asked questions
How much should I charge for a sponsored post?
The industry baseline is roughly $100 per 10,000 followers for an Instagram feed post, more for Reels and TikTok videos, and much more on YouTube, where dedicated videos commonly price at $25–$50 per 1,000 subscribers. Your engagement rate then moves that baseline up or down by ±30% — an audience that actually engages is worth more than a bigger one that doesn’t.
Why does YouTube pay so much more than Instagram?
Because the content lives forever and carries intent. A sponsored Instagram story is gone in 24 hours; a YouTube integration keeps converting for years and often ranks in search. Sponsors price that shelf life in, which is why YouTube CPMs for sponsorships ($20–$35 per 1,000 expected views) run several times higher than social posts.
What should I charge extra for?
Exclusivity (not working with competitors for N months): +20–50%. Usage rights (the brand running your content as paid ads): +30–100% depending on duration. Whitelisting, rush delivery and multi-platform posting are all separate line items. The calculator gives you the content price; these get added on top, in writing.
A brand offered me free product instead of payment. Should I take it?
If your rate card says the placement is worth $400 and the product retails for $60, you now have a number that makes the conversation easy. Gifted collabs can make sense for creators under ~5k followers building a portfolio; past that, product-only deals mostly signal that a brand is testing who will work for free.
